Ukeshandel

The family shopping list, straight into the Oda cart

Ukeshandel is a shared family shopping list connected directly to the cart at Oda, the Norwegian online grocer. Everyone in the family adds items from their own phone, and an adult sends the list to Oda when the week is planned.

Dinner suggestions and the breakfast basket come from the family's own AI: Claude, ChatGPT or another assistant, connected to Ukeshandel over MCP. Ukeshandel has no AI bill of its own.

Background

A family's shopping list often lives in four places at once: on a note on the fridge, in a group chat, in the head of whoever does the shopping and in the cart at Oda. Ukeshandel brings them together in one list that updates live on everyone's phone. Each person has their own colour, so it is easy to see who asked for what.

Apps built Ukeshandel as its own product, for families who already buy their groceries from Oda.

How it works

The shopping list is the core. Everyone searches Oda's range and adds items. Items bought elsewhere or already in the fridge are ticked off as "already have" and are not sent to Oda. When the same item is used in several dinners, the list suggests buying a single pack. Based on the household's Oda order history, it also suggests items that are about to run out.

Dinners are suggested by the AI, based on the family's preferences, allergies, the time available on weekdays and the week's price drops. The ingredients go straight into the list. Recipes from Norwegian recipe sites can be pasted in, and Ukeshandel matches the ingredients to Oda products.

Breakfast and packed lunches are planned as one weekly basket. Each person picks which days they eat breakfast at home, need a packed lunch and eat an evening meal. Ukeshandel works out how many meals the week has and roughly how much bread, sandwich fillings and milk that adds up to.

Offers shows price drops and promotions, with a price history for each item.

Send to Oda is done by an adult. Only the changes since the last send are sent, and the order is completed at Oda.

The AI belongs to the family

Ukeshandel has no built-in language model. The app is an MCP server, and each family member connects their own assistant to it with OAuth 2.1. The AI therefore runs on the user's own plan with Claude, ChatGPT or another MCP client. There is also a Sign in with ChatGPT option, which lets the family plan directly in the app.

Access follows the person's role in the family. Children can search and make requests. Only adults, with a shared adult PIN, can save plans and send to Oda.

The AI's suggestions are checked before they are saved. Ukeshandel only accepts Oda products that have actually appeared in a search, so a language model cannot invent a product that ends up in the cart.

How it is built

Ukeshandel is a Next.js app on Vercel, with Postgres and Realtime in Supabase. The connection to Oda goes through Oda MCP, with OAuth per household and encrypted tokens.

Oda MCP has no offer data. Ukeshandel therefore builds its own price history by fetching prices every night, and that history is what shows price drops and promotions.

The app can be installed on the home screen, sends push notifications and works offline. Adults can get a weekly reminder to place the order, and the rest of the family can get a reminder to add their items before that.

The first version was built in two days. The first commit is from 11 October 2026, and the app was in production the day after.

Status

Ukeshandel is live at www.ukeshandel.app. Families who shop at Oda can create a household and invite the rest of the family with a link. The app is in Norwegian, and in English on devices set to another language.
